　Tokyo, June 2, 2026 — Teijin Frontier Co., Ltd., a Teijin Group company, today announced the development of a polyester fiber-based textile that uniquely performs two functions, which are difficult to achieve simultaneously. The new textile provides both excellent heat retention, delivered by its structure, and stuffiness suppression, provided through its high breathability. Designed for thermal apparel used in sports and outdoor activities, this new product features a novel appearance created by its distinctive, three-dimensional texture, along with a light and airy feel. 

Teijin Frontier will position this multi-functional textile as a key material for sports and outdoor apparel for the fall/winter 2027 season and will work to expand domestic and international sales of the product.

In recent years, the sports and outdoor market has diversified, ranging from performance-oriented activities such as competitive sports and mountaineering to health-oriented activities such as jogging and trail running. In addition, sportswear is increasingly being incorporated into everyday fashion. As a result, demand is growing for thermal apparel that not only delivers conventional heat-retention performance, but also offers enhanced mobility, comfort and attractive appearance.

To meet this need, Teijin Frontier initially developed products using hollow 8-fin cross-section yarn in the raised fabric portion, but experienced challenges in achieving both heat retention and stuffiness suppression. In addition, because the filament yarn used in the raised portion was non-crimped, it lacked softness in texture and appearance, as well as a warm feeling.

To solve these issues, the company developed a polyester fiber-based multi-functional textile with a bulky, raised-fiber structure. It combines excellent lightweight heat retention with a moisture-suppression function achieved through high breathability, as well as a warm touch and airy appearance. This new textile was created by precisely splitting in half a double Raschel knitted fabric that uses low-crimp yarn in the ground structure and bulky, high-crimp textured yarn in the intermediate knot portions within the fabric. 

Key Features 
Teijin Frontier’s novel polyester fiber-based textile achieves a uniform, lofty, air-containing, granular raised-fiber structure. The dead-air effect of the bulky yet lightweight raised nap creates loft and warmth. 
High breathability is the result of a special construction that creates large knitted stitches, forming gaps between the yarns. The void structure of the base fabric area achieves breathability more than twice as high as that of conventional products, according to a Teijin Frontier survey. Air permeability varies based on fabric design.
Moisture wicking occurs when the bulky, highly crimped textured yarn makes point contact with the skin. After wicking sweat, this yarn rapidly diffuses the moisture to the low-crimp yarn via capillary action for quick drying. This process prevents chill caused by sweat retention. 
Long-term shape retention, even after repeated laundering, is due to the stable, three-dimensional structure of the crimped yarn, which contains abundant air.

Sustainability Benefits
This multi-functional textile can be produced from recycled polyester fiber as well as conventional polyester, giving customers a sustainable option. Further, thanks to its non-brushed design using filaments, the material sheds few fibers and can help reduce the generation of ocean-bound microplastics during laundering. 

Teijin Frontier is targeting sales of 50,000 meters of the new textile in fiscal 2027, and 250,000 meters in fiscal 2029.

Tokyo, Jun 10, 2026 — Teijin Frontier Co., Ltd., part of the Teijin Group, today announced the development of three new, interchangeable attachments for its RecoHand™  mobile radio frequency identification (RFID) reader. The new BEAM-Type, MAT-Type and PEN-Type attachments expand customers’ options beyond the wearable GLOVE-Type attachment, which was a finalist in the 18th Annual RFID Journal Awards has and features the reading unit mounted on the index finger. They are designed to optimize the radio wave irradiation range, enabling accurate reading of integrated RFID tags within the intended area. These attachments are part of Teijin Frontier’s Reco Series of RFID-related products. This management system utilizes the company’s proprietary RFID technology based on two-dimensional communication.

In recent years, with the widespread adoption of RFID tags, RFID readers have been required to offer a variety of performance characteristics, such as readability within a narrow radio wave irradiation range, portability for easy handling and the flexibility to support multiple applications with a single reader.

To meet these needs, Teijin Frontier has developed three types of attachments exclusively for the RecoHand™ reader that address different usage scenarios. 

BEAM-Type: Measuring 168 mm wide and 88.5 mm deep, this attachment enables short- to mid-range reading*, within one meter. By installing it near the slot of a box and simply placing items into the box while passing them through the reading range, information on the items can be recorded automatically, reducing labor and improving recording accuracy.

MAT-Type: The reading range of this 340 mm × 186 mm attachment is limited to items placed on the mat. During sales, the negotiation history can be recorded automatically by placing the proposed product on the mat. This makes it possible to visualize sales activities for products, including those that did not lead to a purchase. Also, because the mat is portable, there are no restrictions on where it can be used.

PEN-Type: This 134 mm pen has a reading range limited to the narrow area around the pen tip. It allows multiple, ultra-small RFID tags within a narrow area to be accurately read individually. This attachment enables precise management of serial numbers for small, high-value products in the medical and cosmetics fields.

Benefits include flexibility to choose the attachment best suited for a given usage scenario, thereby improving targeting accuracy, reliability and efficiency. The attachments support multiple operating systems such as Windows, Android and iOS, facilitating integration with customers’ existing systems. With a common reader, the SDK software development Kit (SDK) is also standardized, so there is no need to develop separate applications for each usage scenario.

Domestic sales of the new attachments will begin in fiscal 2026. At that time, they will also be rolled out in global markets, mainly in North America and Europe, where the adoption of RFID tags is advancing.

Going forward, Teijin Frontier will further expand the attachment lineup, aiming for total sales of the entire RecoHand™ series of 300 million yen in fiscal 2028 and 500 million yen in fiscal 2030.

Company is establishing a robust supply structure in response to growing global demand for down alternatives

Tokyo, May 18, 2026 — Teijin Frontier Co., Ltd., part of the Teijin Group, today announced plans to install new equipment for manufacturing OCTAIR™ polyester insulation fiber at its Matsuyama Plant in Ehime Prefecture. This new equipment represents an investment of several hundred million yen. It will enable the company to expand capacity for OCTAIR™ products to meet increasing demand for high-performance alternatives to down insulation in apparel and bedding. Production using this equipment is scheduled to begin in March 2027.

OCTAIR™ insulation fiber features a unique, hollow, eight-fin cross-section with radiating protrusions. Its thermal insulation performance is equivalent to that of down of the same weight. It delivers desirable loft and light weight, thanks to the voids created by its unique structure. Furthermore, OCTAIR™ offers a supple, soft texture with dimensional stability, and it permits a smoother blowing-in process compared to conventional polyester fiberfill.

Worldwide demand for down alternatives has grown in recent years due to factors such as insufficient supplies of down and rising production costs. To address this situation, Teijin Frontier developed OCTAIR™ in 2024 and commenced test marketing. In response to further expected growth in demand, the company will implement mass production capabilities for several different OCTAIR™ materials, including products that incorporate polytrimethylene terephthalate (PTT) fibers or recycled polyester fibers. The new pre-processing, spinning and drawing equipment will augment existing production capabilities to ensure stable and scalable supplies of OCTAIR™ insulation fiber. Production volume will start at several hundred tons per year and is planned to reach approximately 1,000 tons annually by 2030.

Tokyo, April 7, 2026 — Teijin Frontier Co., Ltd. announced today that its pricing for polyester fibers will increase as follows.

The recent deterioration in the Middle East has disrupted global crude oil supplies, leading to price surges in crude oil and petrochemical products. This has significantly impacted on the costs of raw materials, energy, logistics, and other inputs for polyester fibers. Moreover, this, coupled with higher production labor costs, has significantly increased Teijin Frontier’s product costs.

Against this backdrop, Teijin Frontier has strived to maintain its sales prices by making production more efficient and cutting expenses. However, as these rapid cost increases exceed what the company can offset through its efforts to streamline, the company has decided to implement emergency sales price revisions to ensure stable product supplies.

Going forward, Teijin Frontier will continue to comprehensively consider not only market trends of key raw materials but also trends of auxiliary material prices such as packaging materials and logistics costs and will gradually implement price increases.
